Young men ages 13-18 are invited to come, see and learn basic carpentry skills in the Shelterbelt38 shop and participate in a colloquium discussion on a compendium of readings breaking open the relationship of man to his work.

Educator: David Graver, a "retired" high school religion teacher of 15 years, now full-time business owner/craftsmen, is offering this intensive course.  His educational background is in Marriage and Family Studies and Theology including an undergrad from DeSales University and a graduate degree from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute.  He is the proud father of four beautiful daughters and one stud muffin of a son and is married to his love, Erin Graver.  He ardently desires to continue to participate in the education and formation of young people in the faith.

Content: The goal of this week's intensive is to explore the nature of man in relationship to his work.  Uniting the productive to the practical, to the theoretical realms of human thought we will seek to integrate a Traditonal Catholic understanding of the goodness of work and its role in the sanctification of daily life.  A short compendium of readings will be food for thought for the discussion that takes place after morning prayer each day.  After conversing about the daily text, shop class will begin.  Through this intensive course students will be taught a 3 hour shop safety class along with a test to pass which will enable them to use the modern shop equipment with supervision.  The week will culminate with a beginner's cutting board project that each student will be able to take home for their family to use and obtain as a tangible reminder of the week's lesson.
